Vicki has never been one to shy away from the burden of responsibility. She attacks daily challenges with fierce determination — knowing all the while that people depend on her. In better times, she’s  even shared surplus food from her refrigerator with neighborhood kids in need.

"Kindhearted provider does it all, thanks to you. Your generosity saw Vicki’s family through troubled times". - Vicki

In April, the citizens of Rapid City put their compassion into action by taking part in our Empty Bowls fundraiser. And now, the final tally is in: $25,000 raised for Feeding South Dakota’s BackPack Program!

The program provides at-risk children with nutritious, easy-to-prepare food for the weekends during the school year, holidays, and summer vacation. Empty Bowls helps ensure local children have access to nutritious food when they are not in school to receive reduced-price or free meals.

"I don’t worry as much. And I really appreciate the help from people who donate." — Janette
