Sioux Falls, SD [April 25, 2017] – With the need for fresh produce ever-growing, one Sioux Falls-based company is stepping up to the plate to help provide much needed, and nutritious fresh fruits and vegetables to those in need.
Global Aquaponics Inc., a subsidiary of Ritesman Enterprises Inc., is currently constructing its 40 tank aquaponics flagship facility in Brookings, SD. This facility will be the largest of its kind in the world, using renewable energy, and is capable of producing 2.5 million pounds of food and up to 3,000 gallons of drinking water a year. Aquaponics is a sustainable food production method that combines advanced aquaculture with hydroponics. Fish, crustaceans and mollusks are raised and farmed in tanks, and using the biofiltered, nutrient rich water from the aquaculture, plants are grown without soil.
Global Aquaponics Inc. announces that it will donate one preferred member unit valued at $25,000 to Feeding South Dakota that will be able to provide a regular production of produce to help feed families in need, right here in South Dakota. “We are so thankful to Global Aquaponics for this donation that will provide much needed fresh produce to those we serve in our local communities,” says Matt Gassen, CEO of Feeding South Dakota.
“After recognizing the need for more versatile facilities to provide the elements essential to communities, we are proud to be a part of Feeding South Dakota’s mission by providing high-quality, organic food products, fresh water, and clean energy to our local communities,” said Andre Grant, CEO of Global Aquaponics, Inc.
