Hunger Action Month
September is Hunger Action Month - a time when the Feeding America network and the public come together to raise awareness and inspire action to help people facing the impossible choices of hunger.
Food shouldn't be an impossible choice. Choose to take action!
YOU can make a difference!
To get started, download our 30 Ways in 30 Days calendar to see how you can fight hunger in South Dakota during the month of September. Print, emal and share the calendar with co-workers, friends and family members. Donate food, use social media, or volunteer. There's something for everyone!
During the month of September, people across the South Dakota can get involved in the movement by learning, committing, and speaking up about ways to ending hunger. Feeding South Dakota encourages local businesses, churches, schools and civic groups to participate in some of the following ways:
- GO ORANGE on Hunger Action Day, Friday, September 17th by illuminating homes, businesses and sculptures in ORANGE or wear ORANGE clothing. Post photos to social media and tag @FeedingSD using hashtag #hungeractionmonth.
- Host a FOOD DRIVE! Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to register your drive with Feeding South Dakota.
- VOLUNTEER in Pierre, Rapid City, and Sioux Falls. Feeding South Dakota relies on the help of thousands of volunteers each year to help with projects like packing boxes and bags for older adults and children, sorting food drives, and gleaning produce. REGISTER TODAY!
