Host a Food Drive
Getting Started
A food drive is an opportunity for you to become a direct partner with Feeding South Dakota. Donated nonperishable food items provide our food bank with a variety of greatly needed items. A drive can be conducted by individuals, churches, neighborhoods, businesses, service clubs, schools, military units, scouts, sports teams, or any group of dedicated people who realize it takes a local initiative to solve a local issue.
We appreciate all donations and ask that if collecting food you consider donating the items on our most needed items list. Consider adding an online fundraiser to make an even greater impact!
To get started, register your food drive so we can make plans to receive your food items. Use our Food and Fund Drive Toolkit as your planning resource, and review the additional resources below.
The list below represents our highest food priorities so we can provide the most nutritious food. We ask that you help us to provide items with the most nutritional value by donating food items that are whole grain, low sodium/sugar, and do not contain high fructose corn syrup, trans-fats, or partially hydrogenated oils. All items should be unexpired.
- Peanut butter & jelly
- Canned chicken & tuna
- Canned fruits & vegetables
- Taco shells, tortillas, seasoning, etc.
- Canned pasta meals
- Boxed pasta meals & easy mac
- Microwave meals
- Baking mixes
- Pancake mixes & syrup
- Rice, pasta, pasta sauce
- Cereal & oatmeal
- Kid-friendly snacks
- Granola bars
For safety reasons, we are unable to accept:
- Opened Products
- Glass Containers
- Homemade Items
- Baby Food
Donated food can be dropped off at any of our three locations during our hours of operation: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. If you live outside of these areas, please deliver your food donation to your local food pantry.

When you deliver the food drive items a hand-written receipt will be issued to you.
